JADDCARDS - Natural History Greeting Cards
"Madagascan Sunset Moth" - World Wildlife

Madagascan Sunset Moth (Urania riphaeus)
You could be forgiven for thinking these are exotic and colourful butterflies but they are in fact moths which, sadly, are very sought after by collectors. Even in Victorian times their wings were in popular demand for jewellery. Beautiful living examples fly by day which, again, is unusual for moths. The Madagascan Sunset Moth is a migratory moth that lives its life in tropical rainforests. The Madagascan Sunset moth prefers to feed on privet, rhododendron and Ailanthus.

This Madagascan Sunset Moth greeting card image can also be found on our key rings and fridge magnets

To see Madagascan sunset moths visit Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect World. None of the butterflies that you will see are endangered and they donate money every year to several charities that help save the rainforest in places like Costa Rica, Belize and the Peruvian Amazon.
