JADDCARDS - Natural History Greeting Cards
'Otter' - British Wildlife

The Otter, (Lutra lutra) is a semi-aquatic species, and can live on sea coasts or by rivers and lakes.
A clean fresh water source is very important as it provides non-coastal otters with a good variety of food sources and coastal otters the opportunity to regularly clean salt from their fur.

Otters are generally nocturnal, live between 5 and10 years and have litters of 2 or 3 cubs born at any time of the year.

Marshes provide an important safe habitat for otters to raise their young. They like seclusion, and do not thrive where humans may disturb them, an otters presence is often revealed by their distinctive five-toed footprints on the riverbank.

This Otter greeting card image can also be found on our key rings and fridge magnets.

Enjoy the wonderful photos and all the information on the Otter Trust website. The main aims of the Trust are to encourage the conservation of otters throughout the world but with particular emphasis on our own British Otter.
